Biggest statue of Lord Anjaneya Hanuman located at small town SOMALA
under CHITTOOR district in the Indian state of ANDHRA PRADESH. It is the
mandal headquarters of Somala mandal and belongs to Rayalaseema region. Somala
is located 69 kms towards west from district head quarters Chittoor via NH-18,
530 kms from the state capital city Hyderabad towards North via NH-18 and NH-7.
Somala word originated from Tamil. “So” means beautiful (sundaram), “mala”
means hills so called “beautiful hills”. Somala located in beautiful hills.
Pedda Upparapalli located in Somala mandal. In the forest of Upparapalli,
bamboo grows widely. One can see the fort called Durgam Konda. This is the
place where one can find Elephants very frequently. One of the biggest statue
of Lord Anjaneya is situated towards Tirupati road in Somala. People mainly
grow Tomato, Sugar cane, Rice, Vegetables and Groundnuts in their farms. There is
